publicsafe.org and The Enhanced Public Safety Committee are comprised of Des Moines citizen volunteers working towards the goal of making our city a safe place to live and work. The committee believes that the cornerstone of attracting new business, residents, and tourists to our community is to first focus on making its citizens feel safe. Working in tandem with the Des Moines Police Department, South King Fire & Rescue, King County EMS/Medic One, Emergency Preparedness Agencies and Public Officals, some of the committee goals are to: Promote public awareness of safety issues: Elderly Safety Programs Elder Watch Program to stop elder abuse Public Health Issues Neighborhood and Business Watch Programs Ballot Issues - Levy Lid Lifts, etc. Emergency Preparedness Plans Technology Enhancements Training Programs Create a forum for citizens to give input to the committee: Police South Station @ Redondo Pacific Ridge Community Meetings Crime Free Rental Housing Program Neighborhood Watch Programs Business Watch Programs Sponsor Informational Events/Projects: Medic One Forums Pandemic Influenza Information Forums Emergency Preparedness Fairs Disaster Emergency Kits for low income seniors Boating Safety Citizens Police Academy If you would like more information on some of these issues or would like Informational Forums presented to your group, please contact us. |
