Starting December 1, 2007 the DMPD South Station will be open to the public for basic police information services. It is located in the Redondo Square Shopping Center next to Safeway at S. 272nd and Pacific Hiway South. During the open hours, the front lobby will allow people to file on-line reports and the staff on duty will be available to provide basic information and resources. Copies of police and accident reports as well as pet and concealed pistol licenses will not be available at the South Station and will still need to be picked up at the Des Moines Police Service Center located at 21900 11th Avenue South. At other times the South Station will be used by officers during their duty shifts to complete reports and finish projects. Other activities include hosting public meetings and holding regional police training classes. The front counter will be manned by police department staff and/or volunteers. Open hours exclude holidays and certain posted special events.
