The Des Moines Activity Center hosted their first annual "Emergency
Preparedness Fair" on June 20th. The center invited the public to learn how to
be prepared and what to do in the event of an emergency situation. Local
agencies dealing in emergencies gave presentations and answered citizen's
questions on how and why they need to be prepared
.
Along with these presentations, vendors showed Preparedness Kits that
were available for purchase. Also on hand were emergency equipment
displays from the various agencies.
Participating agencies were South King Fire & Rescue, Des Moines Police
Department, King County Red Cross and Valley Com (911). There was also
a continual showing of short videos from the King County Health
Department's Project Impact informational series regarding different
kinds of emergencies we face here in the Northwest.
